The Domingo Savio Institute is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based at Florida State University’s Center for the Advancement of Human Rights, and is dedicated to increasing developmental and educational opportunities for at-risk children in Santiago, Chile. Our main goal is to raise funds to support individual social projects and to raise awareness of the plight of Chile’s under-privileged children.
Guided by our mission to increase educational and developmental opportunities for at-risk children in Chile, the Domingo Savio Institute utilizes a project based approach, focusing its energies and resources on a select group of local initiatives. Such an approach encourages our beneficiaries to strategize about concrete responses to the needs of individual communities, and ensures that the efforts of the Institute have a positive and direct impact on the lives of the children.
Our all-volunteer membership consists of dedicated people who have worked or volunteered in the past with the children of Chile. Through our incredible experiences we have developed a strong bond with the children of Chile and are committed to helping them achieve their goals of success and independence from lives of poverty.
“Poverty is not only understood by means of income, but also defined by the missing possibilities for total development and the aptitude of living life.”
The following are some links to PowerPoint presentations and newsletters from Mi Club.
